Great American Caravans Alaska 2023

6/19/2023 - Today is the start of our trip to Alaska. We have been waiting for 1 year since we decided to take this endeavor. 

6/20/2023 - We traveled to Fairmont Hot Springs about 107 miles. Light rain the whole day. I soaked in the Hot Springs today and spoke with 2 gentleman from the area while enjoying the Hot Springs. Temperature 103 F. The other pool was 90 F.

 On the way to Watson Lake a bear encounter. I went to check on RV in front of me and the bear starting walking across the street. I high tailed it to the back of my RV.

Made it to Skagway, AK on July 2, 2023. Tourist town reason being the cruise ships stop here. Lots of shops. Diesel Gas was $5.50 a gallon.

 7/10/2023 - Destruction Bay. First glimpse of Aurora Borrealis 2:15am. Sunset at 11:45pm and Sunrise at 4:30am.

Pre - Alaska Trip 2023

 Today June 3rd is the start of our Great American Caravans Alaska Tour:

Arrived 1st night Rowley's Red Barn.  Medium Almond J/Butter Pecan for Dina/Mom and Licorice ice cream for me.

  

Moved on to Lava Hot Springs, ID. Caribou Highlands Golf & RV Resort. 

 

Spent the afternoon at Lava Hot Springs resting in Hot Pools. 

   

Lunch at 78 Main Dining two Gluten Free Classic Cheeseburgers and guess what I ate.

Visited Idaho Potato Museum 2 Loading Baked Potatoes for the Ladies and loaded Tater Tots for me.

 

Arrived at next destination for a couple of days. 

Golf today at The Links at Teton Peaks. What a gem. If you're in the area you need to play. 

Took a nice scenic drive from Driggs, ID to Dillion, MT. Went through Ennis and Virginia City. Had lunch at NACHO Mama's. Arrived at Beaverhead Campground to spend the night.  
Stopped in Butte, MT to pick up some supplies. Washed truck and RV.

  

Then went to Anaconda, MT to Old Works GC for lunch

Staying at A Creek Runs Thru It. Quiet with a little freeway noise and a train traveling by occasionally. 

6/12/2023 - Yesterday and today we decided to stay in Polson, MT at Flathead lake near Glacier Nat'l Park. 

6/13/2023 - Arrived today in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

6/14/2023 - Flag Day. Elks Lodge has a flag burning ceremony where they burn damaged flags for the year. Boy Scouts of America participate. 

Great stay at the Coeur d"Alene Elks Lodge.

Crossed over Canada Border today. 

Checked in early to RV park.  

I have a nice Pitch and Putt course here at the RV Park to work on my short game with whiffle golf balls Yahoo.  A picture of my backyard for 4 days 

We begin trip on Monday.
